Meeting notes for September 11, 2015

Those in attendance: Brian Kostecki, CC, Mykal Amaré, ACB, CL, Cause Haun, Chuck Furumori, Josh Huisenga, Jim Guenther, ATMB, Shawn Terjeson ATMB and Greg Phillips, CC, CL, Steven Ward, Norman Bell, CC, we had three guests today, Wendy, Mimi and Natalie.

Norman Bell, CC, officially took over as the new President of the Earlybirds. Thank you Norman for stepping up. I would also give a big thank you to Chuck Furumori who stepped forward to be out interim president after Jim Jones had to relocate to Texas, thank you Chuck.

Today was part one of two for our Humorist Speech and Table Topics contest.

Norman called meeting to order on time. Brian gave us our inspiration, today he lead us in a moment of silence in remembrance of all those who lost their lives on 911.

Mykal Amaré was our Toastmaster for the day.

Steven Ward gave a great speech about “Showing Sheep”. This was project number four from the CC manual. The title of Steven’s 5-7 minute speech was “This is the Year.” In his speech Steven lead us through his experience of showing sheep at the fair while he was a member of 4-H. Steven interspersed his speech with humor and some demonstrations on how you would handle your sheep and most importantly.keep your eye on the judge at all times.

Jim Guenther stepped up to give us an informational speech. This speech was in regards to the new layout of the theater. He also shared his experience of attending “American Idiot” that is now playing at ArtsWest. He was very descriptive and excited about “change” even at 80 years old. Thank you Jim for getting your excitement all over us.

We moved into the contest, Greg Phillips lead this part of the meeting. The theme for the contest is “Step into Safety by Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone.”
Jim Guenther gave us his entry of “Come With me to Ireland.” It just goes to show that you are never too old o fulfill your dreams.
Our guest, Mimi, gave us a rousing speech titled “The Minnesota Lynx.” Mimi’s advice is to attend a Seattle Storm gave.however be prepared!

We had three Table Topic entries; Cause, Norman and another one of our guests, Natalie.
Very well done, exciting and original.

Winners today were Steven for the five-minute speech, Mimi for the Humorist speech and Cause for the Table Topic. Joins us next week for part 2.

Josh reminded us the DUES are due. Please make this happen before the end of the month.
