Meeting notes for May 27, 2016

Those in attendance: Mykal Amaré, ACB, CL; Brian Kostecki, CC; Greg Phillips, CC, CL; Jim Guenther, ATMB; Josh Huisenga; Chuck Furumori, CL; Shawn Terjeson, ATMB; Cause Haun; Jeremy Blum. We had two guests, Miranda Taylor and CC Ross who both joined, welcome to the flock.

This meeting was interesting and informing..

Chuck Furumori called the meeting to order at 7:47 AM.

Jim Guenther was our Toastmaster. Thank you Jim for sharing of yourself.

Shawn gave us our interesting Word for the day, “Sesquipedalian” meaning “a person who loves to use big words.”

Brian as our humorist gave us his top 5 summer vacation plans, and the number 1 plan is “Madonna and me spend riding horses at the ranch home in Texas.”

Josh was our General Evaluator and Brian was our Timer. Jeremy was our vote counter.

Our guest speaker was Lisa Herbold, the Councilmember from District 1; Lisa represents the neighborhoods of West Seattle and South Park. Councilmember Herbold gave us a run down of her job responsibilities within the council and beyond. Lisa then opened up for questions.

In his role of speaker evaluator, Shawn stated that from her last visit, Lisa was much improved.

Chuck went over the nominations or volunteers for the new officer roles. All the roles have been filled & Jim suggested we close nominations. We will vote to accept the slate on Friday June 3rd.

Cause was our Table Topic Master, topic- “If you were city council and mayor and could wave a magic wand, what would you fix and why?”

The winners today were, speech-none; Table Topic-Cause and Clean Slate – no one announced.

Cause reminded us to Wear Orange 2016 Campaign Launches Ahead of Second National Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 2!
