Jim Guenther led the meeting as Toastmaster. His theme for the day was the environment and our place within it.
Miranda inspired us with a call to action for equity and the environment. She urged us to focus on what we can control—our love and compassion.
Wendy had us laughing at some Jewish Bee humor.
The word of the day was given to us by Janet. We learned, through a very enthusiastic demonstration, the difference between less and fewer.
Speeches: Our morning contained three speeches by members Miranda Taylor, Carol Dansereau, and Shawn Terjeson.
1. Miranda’s speech was the introduction of guest speaker, Carol Dansereau. David Warren provided the evaluation for Miranda.
2. Carol’s moving speech introduced us to the ideas around economic democracy from her book, “What it Will Take.” David Warren provided Carol’s evaluation as well.
3. Shawn’s speech, “Modern Dentistry,” introduced us to his dental hygienist, Nadine, along with the trials and tribulations of his teeth. Shawn’s speech was evaluated by Janet Dowd.
Susan brought our Table Topic for the morning. It was a ten-person, improvised, continuous story. Ten members participated with great results. Quick thinking, Earlybirds.
Marina provided the general meeting evaluation. Great work everyone.
Chuck provided our grammarian report.
Awards were presented by Mykal: Shawn claimed the award for long-form speech. Chuck took home the Table Topic award for his “Captain Rex from Planet Barkula.”
